Soft yellow light
Illuminated my framed face in the mirror
A muffled lisp whispered gentle lyrics
Through speckled soundwaves
My spine stretched and crackled in pleasure
As I reached up, up
To the ceiling, comfortably remaining a safe distance from the top
I felt small
But proportional
I thought of my sister and her dream for me
I practiced faces in the mirror
I was dancing.
Yet,
Unremarkable
Where were my adorable freckles?
Or soft dimples?
There were hipdips
And hair out of place
Still,
Peace remained
Tethered by the mellow chords
Flowing through
